When Clayton Makepeace at Response Ink asked us to build an e-acquisition program for Weiss Research, a leading financial newsletter publisher, we thought we had died and gone to heaven. It’s a rare opportunity a young company like ours gets the chance to work with such top notch direct response marketers, let alone “The Highest Paid Copywriter In The World.”
We had already built a track record of success in growing the business for another one of Response Ink’s clients, but working with Clayton directly was a whole new ballgame… and we were ready to play.
We we’re given 4 primary market sectors to build traffic for, and challenged to capture 5000 optin leads per month. In the first 3 months of this program we delivered over 65,000 leads at a cost per lead that made everyone very (VERY) happy. In fact, compared to the in-house staff, we delivered leads at a savings of 65%.

The existing Google account was riddled with fundamental problems and a very shallow keyword list. Previous attempts at running PPC had resulted in poorly converting landing pages and very low traffic volume. Calling on our experience driving massive traffic in the financial space, we rebuilt Schaeffer’s lead gen program from the inside out. With our all-new site designs and more tightly targeted keyword matching, our traffic increased conversions by 375% and lead volume by 525%, while at the same time dropping the cost per lead!

How do you grow a $20,000,000 company almost from scratch in one of the most competitive markets online?

When Greg took over the PPC program at TVM, they were a start-up company selling a single brand of health supplements out of a tiny office. Less than two years later, this upstart group of internet mavericks had morphed into a $20,000,000 juggernaut with 90 employees!

Greg completely rebuilt their campaign architecture from the ground up, exploded their keyword lists to the point Google needed to expand their keyword list capacity to accommodate the campaigns, and helped to integrate a rigorous split testing schedule to maximize ROI for all landing pages. When fully optimized and running with throttle wide open, Greg’s PPC team was managing a monthly spend of over $800,000 on Google alone and secured a line of credit from Google to spend up to $1,240,000 per month!
TVM’s PPC program became so successful that at one point the greatest challenge was filling orders fast enough and adding enough servers to handle all the traffic… more traffic than RiteAid and GNC!
